While the area known as Brookhaven was established in the early 1900’s, Brookhaven did not officially become a city until 2012. Stretching over 12 square miles of Dekalb County, Brookhaven is bordered by I-285 to the north, Peachtree Dunwoody Road to the west, Clairmont and Chamblee Dunwoody Roads to the east, and I-85 to the south. Housing options range from pre-war bungalows and cottages to multi-million-dollar estate homes and trendy loft conversion buildings. This close-knit community of approximately 50,000 plays host to a wide array of festivals and events throughout the year, including the popular Cherry Blossom Festival in April and the Chili Cook-Off and Art Festival in October. Surrounded by Buckhead, Sandy Springs, the Perimeter and a culturally-rich Chamblee area, residents enjoy abundant shopping and dining options as well as convenient access to MARTA, and over a dozen area parks.
